The Breast Cancer Society of Canada has announced a $5 million donation to the London Health Sciences Foundation.
Katarina Gagne` is the Communications Coordinator for the Breast Cancer Society of Canada, she says the donation will support research in the Pamela Greenaway-Kohlmeier Translation Breast Cancer Research Unit.
The gift is to assist the LHSF’s $200 million fundraising program.
Gagne` says this is the largest donation the Breast Cancer Society of Canada has ever done in all of Canada.
She says the longest and strongest relationship is with the TBCRU here in London, as their relationship began in 1998.
With this latest donation the Breast Cancer Society of Canada has surpassed $10 million in funding for breast cancer research at the LHSF.
The donation was officially announced Wednesday, and it will continue to support research at the unit.
Gagne` says the funds will also help train the next generation of researchers by providing students with the opportunity to be mentoured at the centre.
Gagne` says the strides the centre has made in London are absolutely fantastic, and the Breast Cancer Society of Canada wants to continue to support that.
