A suspect wanted on a Canada wide warrant in connection to the deadly shooting near Clinton over one week ago has been arrested.
The 70-year-old man was arrested on Sunday at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport after returning to Canada from an undisclosed location.
OPP Sgt Peter Leon tells XFM News the suspect was arrested without ‘incident’ after getting off the aircraft Sunday evening.
Don Frigo and his wife Eva were shot on the evening of September 13th while riding horses near the Hullet Wildlife Conservation Area, which is just outside of Clinton.
Frigo died at the scene while Eva was reportedly able to escape after being shot and find help.
During a news conference on Friday, the OPP named 70-year-old Boris Panovski as their main suspect. They also said a search warrant was executed at Panovski’s home in Scarborough earlier in the week where they seized several ‘exhibits’.
OPP also confirmed Frigo and Panovski were known to each other but would not elaborate.
Panovski has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder. He is slated to appear in Goderich court on Monday.
