This weekend kickstarts the beginning of flu shot clinics in London. The Middlesex London Health Unit holds theirs on Saturday, offering free flu shots to the public.
David Jensen from the Ministry of Health Longterm Care says it’s important to get your shot early since the shot takes two weeks to build up immunity. Flu season typically lasts from October to April, so getting the shot now could help protect you for both the fall and winter season. There are a variety of places to get your shot, including family doctors, community and workplace flu immunization clinics, and pharmacies as well.
Other ways to help prevent spreading the flu include coughing into your sleeve, washing hands often, and staying home from school or work when you are sick.
