Last night Bill Cosby made his much anticipated performance at Budweiser Gardens. The peaceful protest organized by The London Abused Women’s Shelter was set to begin at 6:00 pm, but by 5:15 protesters were already gathering outside the venue to brave the bitter cold and make sure Mr. Cosby heard what they had to say.
One lady showed up with no intentions of being silenced about her abuse stories. “They’re here (London Abused Women Shelter) and they’re peaceful. Well I’m not peaceful. I’ve been raped, I’ve been date raped.”
Although there were lots out to protest, many still wanted to attend the show to support a man who used to be one of the biggest comedians in the world, and still has a strong fan following.
Bill Smith and his wife are 87 and 84 and received their tickets at Christmas time from their daughter. They were very disappointed with the way they were treated going into Budweiser Gardens. “Basically, I think they shouldn’t be there ( the protesters) until they prove Bill Cosby wrong in court. And until that happens I think that we should be here without being harassed.”
During the show, Cosby thought it was time to make a joke about the hot water he was in. A lady went to leave the show, and when the comedian asked where she was going she replied ” To get a drink, do you want one?”
Cosby was quick with his improve and said ” I already have one,” implying to the bottle of water on the stage. “You have to be careful about drinking around me.”
There were gasps from the crowd followed by a few laughs and two hecklers to object to his joke. Both hecklers were removed from the venue with one man screaming “You are a rapist. I’m being ejected because you are a rapist.”
When the show was done Cosby received his second standing ovation from audiences in Ontario.
