Early Chinese New Year celebrations

Students at Western University are collaborating to celebrate an early Chinese New Year.

At their event tonight, the Paper Arts Club and Calligraphers of Western (CROWN) will be teaching students how to write characters in Chinese calligraphy as well as how to make paper lanterns and sheep.

Alice Chen is the President of CROWN and says they hope to unite students together who may not be able to spend the time with their families back home. “This is an opportunity to learn more about East Asian culture and also really to just make friends”.

The event takes place at 6pm in UCC54A. They will hopefully have more celebrations leading up to Chinese New Year on February 19th.
