It’s going to be a busy day in the Forest City as many people suit up in green. City officials are also hoping for some Irish luck.
Ward 3 Councillor Mo Salih says “everyone has worked hard to prepare for a good day, from enforcement officials to the Fanshawe Student Union.” Salih says “there is nothing wrong with students going out and having fun, as long as they stay respectful.”
A riot in 2012 on Fleming Dr. has left some people feeling uneasy about the day. However Salih feels the due diligence has been made and thinks the city has come a long way.
He says “at the end of the day, not everyone can be held responsible for what one person or a small group of people do.” Although he adds that “everyone can do their part to obey the rules and think about others in the community.”
Salih says he will stay involved by being out and about in the community, keeping an eye on things from behind the scenes, however he says “the professionals will be out there, such as law enforcement officials, if there are any problems.”
