The C.D Howe institute has published a troubling report showing Canadian students have declining math skills. A local tutoring agency says they have seen the decline in math skills in students for years.
“over a number of years, we have seen students come to us with weak computational skills, lack of numeracy, really foundation skills that aren’t as solid as they should be” Says Andrea Diezyn, executive director for Sylvan Learning here in London
Andrea says the learning centre has seen a steady decline in math skills and says that people should consider Math as a critical subject.
” I hear parents say to me all the time’I’m not good at math so I’m not surprised my child is not’, but you don’t say that about reading”
