London may grow a bit bigger because of generous donations.
There are six applications in the works to bring Syrian families here.
Rektor Kevin George, at the St. Aidan’s Anglican Church says, It costs around $30,0oo to support a family of four for a year.
On Friday October 30th, the Oakridge Presbyterian Church will camp in a parking lot to raise more funds towards the cause.
Mayor Matt Brown has been very active in the refugee cause. Talking at a meeting of Canada’s Big City Mayors about coordinating efforts with other municipalities. He has also joined the Task Fore on Refugee Resettlement.
Earlier this year, The Byron United Church received a cheque of $28,000, from the Metropolitan United Church to support their application for a Syrian Family.
Another church, the Anglican Deanery of London got a cheque from Libro Credit Union of $8,500, to help with two Syrian family applications.
Since September fifth, Londoners have raised over 200-thousand-dollars to help with the ongoing Syrian Refugee Crisis.
