The International Department at Fanshawe College held an ice skating event for students at the Kinsman Arena. Skating comes naturally to Canadians, but for someone from outside North America, it can be a new and challenging experience.
James is an international student from Nigeria was very excited to try skating as he knew this was a popular sport in Canada. James was eager to go on the ice as he brought all his equipment as other international students had to borrow equipment from the city.
James says that it is difficult to skate, but as long as he doesn’t break any bones, he will keep trying. James was the first person out on the rink today.
Matt Stewart is a Volunteer Coordinator for the International Centre who put this event together as he was once an international student himself. Stewart was also the former Fanshawe Student Union (FSU) president.
