After provincial review, there is a chance Robart and Amethyst schools may be closing in London. These schools have offered specialized curriculum for students with learning disabilities, and deaf students.
Yesterday, staff members, students, and families rallied together to spread the message that this is not okay.
Many families have expressed concern about the closures after their children had succeeded so well in the programs these schools offered.
One parent said “I don’t know what I would have done without Amethyst. My daughter was at the reading level of a grade 4 when she started 7th grade. After spending two years at the school, her reading and writing levels improved so much she was able to attend a mainstream high school. I cant imagine what the closure of these schools will mean for other students needing this specialized care. It isn’t fair to the next generation.”
