Local is the new Black took over Shop Accents today by inviting and showcasing 6 top Canadian Jewelry designers.

Miriam De Langley is a London native who is now based out of Whistler B.C. She Hand Makes and crafts every piece of Jewelry in her collections.

De Langley studied fine art and goldsmithing in Toronto before seeking a summer apprenticeship in Southern France. She adds her inspiration is from her travels and the place she calls home.

Also at the event was Toronto designer Corrine Anestopoulos who began her company ‘BIKO‘ in 2005.

Anestopoulos says ” my inspiration comes from global treasures and found curiosities, translating such ideas into wearable, contemporary silhouettes. Biko marries vintage inspiration with sleek mixed metals, hand-cast pendants and natural stones to create high-quality, versatile pieces that tell a story.”

Natalie Waldman Designs also made an appearance at the event by showcasing her hand made one-of-a-kind pieces. Based out of Toronto Natalie’s creations are made from  materials such as 22k gold, silver-plated, oxidized silver, brass, Swarovski crystals, semi-precious stones and assorted other fine materials.

Alexandra Ruth showed off her pure silver, boho chic and contemporary collection. With Feather accents as her main focus of her jewelry she adds “by doubling up different rings or necklaces each piece accents each other.”

she adds “in likes of making my jewelry a reasonable cost, I use silver instead of white gold or yellow gold.”
