German culture took over the Western Fair District this week which included traditional lederhosen, sausages and beer.
This is the second year that the city of London is hosting the Bavarian event in collaboration with Kitchener-Waterloo.
The director of events and shows for the Western Fair, Rob Lumsden, says that the Oktoberfest in London is all about sharing the Bavarian culture, ” It’s a celebration of authentic German food, drink, entertainment, band, and festive cheer.” the event on Thursday also included Canadian rock legend Tom Cochrane in concert.
Another tradition at the Oktoberfest was the keg tap where everybody in attendance gets a cup of Bavarian flowing beer. Lumsden also says that having the experience of hosting for the 1st time a year ago allowed them to plan much better for this year. The Oktoberfest in London runs October 7-8 & 13-15 from 5 pm to 1 am.
