It’s a series of 5 races that start and end at the Western Fair District. However not a single race is the same. The first race is the Chuckle Run, which included a Free Yuk Yuk’s ticket with registration. It is a 5k Run/Walk and there’s a Fun Run. The second of the year is a 5k in July called Run to the BBQ, the 19+ race comes with free admission to the London Beer & BBQ Show.
The third race is the I Run For Ice Cream 5k, 10k and Fun Run where there is all you can eat ice cream. The fourth race of the series is the Women Run London, a 3k and a 10k run and participants are given free bracelets and women’s expo.
And that takes us to the third and final race of the series. The Classic Championship. On Sunday November 6 the ‘super bowl of the series’ took place and a winner is crowned for each division. Points are allocated based on results in the previous races and a champion is crowned after the race. There was also a free pasta lunch. You can view the results of the competitive races here, showing the winners from this year’s event.
Steve Ryall is the race director for Run The District, and says the idea for the series came up two years ago.
“This is our second year doing Run The District. The idea for Run The District came when we wanted a fun, relaxed race that people can take as seriously as they want.”
“You can go for the records, or you can go just for fun. There’s something for everyone.”
Run The District had over 700 participants in this year’s series.
