The Performers For Paws was held yesterday from noon to 11 pm at the Cardboard Cafe on Dundas street as an event to support the London Humane Society. The event included musicians from Fanshawe’s Music Industry Arts program as well as other local talent that provided musical entertainment. A portion of The Cardboard Cafe’s “$5 Stay and Play” fee was donated to the London Humane Society as well as a raffle with prizes from Carey’s Bar & Grill, The Hood Archery, Cellular Magician, Yellow London Taxi and others which also included the Cardboard Cafe it self.
Josh Rivers, the owner and operator of the Cardboard Cafe says the event is all about a good cause, “It’s a live performance fundraiser for the London Humane Society so we got live music all day, we got raffles going so were looking to have a fun event and raise money.”
Fanshawe’s 106.9 The X was hosting the Performers For Paws as Dayna French, the promotions coordinator for the X explains it was for a class project, ” We were coming up with random things so we thought we were a radio station and we should have something that incorporates music and when we were trying to pick our charity, we thought London Humane Society, it’s amazing and we want to help out animals and that is kind of a general charity, most people enjoy animals and want to support them.”
Dayna also says that the Cardboard Cafe was a perfect client to host the event, ” The venue is just really amazing. There is games, there is a lot of cool things to entice people to come on out and so we thought it would be pretty cool to have a coffeehouse that kinda appeals to a lot of different people. There are older people, younger people and kids so it’s a great venue to appeal to a large demographic of people.”
The London Humane Society provides hope, shelter and care for hundreds of animals ever year one donation at a time.
