You may see more black and red toques around London. Raise the Roof London started an initiative called “Toque Tuesday” to hand out toques and ball caps to people in need in London.
Volunteers and Londoners gathered at the front steps of the Unity Project downtown to spread across London stopping in populated areas to hand out toques for people who need some extra warmth this winter. You can also buy toques at the Raise the Roof website, HERE.
Silvia Langer a volunteer for Raise The Roof wants everyone to be warm this winter, ” This is very important for the city of London, we want everyone to be safe and yet have a stylish hat.”
This is the 20th anniversary of the Toque Campaign and 50% of the gross proceeds from each Toque Campaign item benefit community Partner Agencies working directly with people experiencing homelessness. Most importantly proceeds from toques bought in a community stay in that community, including online sales.
London has joined over 45 different cities in Canada supporting the initiative.
