Figure skating is a competitive sport. Freestyle and Synchro are two of the common styles when it comes to figure skating. Freestyle is when you perform by yourself, while Synchro is when you perform with a group of 8.
Kevin winter is a coach just outside of London. “The judging panel is very different now, with the new system that is in place. There’s a technical panel on the judging panel that has replay capabilities and they decide if the element is actually an element.
The judges don’t have a set score as the figure skaters have different levels.
“The judges on the panel then take that element and access how good that element was. They can give bonus points or have points come off, but its the technical panel that makes the decision. “
Judging is usually based on the style, jump, spins and elements.
