March 1st is National Zero Discrimination Day in Canada. People gathered in Victoria Park to protest discrimination against disabled people all over the world. The theme of zero discrimination day is to raise voices towards diversity, equality, inclusion and tolerance all over the world.
Rashav Banerjee was a supporter in the protest at Victoria Park and he explains why he was protesting on March 1st, ” To remember the lives of people with disabilities that have been lost to violence, abuse and murder.”
The protest in Victoria Park started with a lighting ceremony, followed by a speech written and spoken by many members of the group from London.
Zero Discrimination Day is an opportunity to join against discrimination. Gender, nationality, age, disability, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, religion, language or any other status should never be a reason to discriminate.
