Increase in vehicle thefts in London

A total of 306 vehicles have been stolen in the city since the beginning of the year. That compares to 152 vehicles stolen in the same time period last year.

“A significant percentage of these vehicles are GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado pick up trucks. Although most Sierra and Silverado models have been targeted, the majority of vehicles stolen are in the range of 2000-2006, which may be related to the vehicle’s security features,” says Constable Sandasha Bough.

Bough’s tip to avoid the issue include:

  • Park your vehicle in a garage or well-lit area
  • Use a steering wheel locking device
  • Install a car alarm
