The annual London’s Got Talent event showed us just how much flair is hidden in the city.
This is the second year the Single Women in Motherhood (SWIM) and the Smart Mothers Achieving Remarkable Triumph (SMART) pair up to organize and host the event.
Among the talents were young gymnasts, singers, dancers and more, all competing for a 1000 dollar cash prize.
Ann-Marie Rickets, founder and executive director of SWIM, says she’s always wanted to see people recognize the hard work of single mom’s.
“ It was a vision. SMART became a thing, and then one of our volunteers thought of an event that’s unique for everyone. Notice that lots of the talent here are not just single mothers, but people who were raised by single mothers.”
Rickets says that the creativity behind the event is best highlighted by looking at the amount of different people attending.
“There’s young people, older people, everyone that makes up a society is here. And we’re all here to embrace single mothers. “
Rickets adds that the expectations of filling up the whole venue were succeeded.
SWIM and SMART hope to be looking for an even bigger venue than the one at Wolf Hall, as the event is quickly gaining popularity around the London communities.
