With Christmas music playing softly in the background, couples holding hands and children mesmerized by Santa, the Lighting of the Lights at Victoria Park was a night to remember.
Thousands of people all gathered around the main stage and soaked in the holiday spirit before the countdown to the lights. It was many spectators first time viewing the incredible light show. “It’s really exciting, it’s really cool like lots of families, everybody’s like all huddled up in the cold. It’s a nice night,” attendee Ray says while enjoying the festivities with his best friend.
A common word to describe the atmosphere was electric. As the countdown to the lighting of the lights began, arms wrapped around one another and voices rang out counting backwards from 10.
One spectator, Trisha, describes the moment as “very jolly, very happy and everyone’s just together.”
One loving couple, Robert and Maria, who were seen taking selfies at the front of the stage said that with celebrating Christmas in Brazil last year, they are more than excited to have a white, Canadian Christmas and to enjoy all the holiday events London has to offer.
As the night wore on, parents and their children flooded Santa’s house for their yearly picture with Santa, while donating money to the TLC (Teresina Larizza Charity) foundation.
The lights will stay on until the end of December for everyone in London to see.
