A hit and run ended in a death on the evening of February 8, 2018.
At approximately 8:35 pm, a reported stolen black Chevrolet pickup truck was seen being driven in the area of Hamilton Road and Egerton Street. Soon later the vehicle was found abandoned in the area Moffatt Avenue and Vancouver Street.
Later police received a 911 call to report another vehicle, a grey 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck had been stolen from a driveway of a nearby residence.
While the suspect was fleeing in the truck a 32-year-old women tried to stop the theft from happening. The suspect then continued to drive and the woman sustained severe injuries as a result of being struck by the vehicle.
Police and EMS arrived on scene and rushed the victim to London Health Sciences Center where she was pronounced deceased. The identity of the victim is not being released until the next of kin in contacted.
The Chevrolet Silverado truck was found unoccupied Friday morning in the area of Clarke Road and Trafalgar Street
The investigation is being looked into by the Major Crime Section.
