The Western men’s tennis team has a chance to go down in the record books this weekend.
The Mustangs are gunning for their third straight OUA title. It would be their second in the past ten years.
Assistant coach Cameron Cross says getting it done will come down to the team’s depth.
“Hopefully, we’re able to win at some of the four, five, six positions. I think that’s going to be the key, as well as trying to win some matches at the top,” Cross.
The championship runs all weekend long at the Western Tennis Centre — something Cross notes is great advantage for the men’s team.
“We practice here everyday; everyone knows the courts; they know the speed; they’re comfortable with the surface,” says Cross.
The last time the Mustangs men’s team won three straight was from 2002 to 2004.
A second threepeat would set the team up as one of the program’s all-time dynasties.
