The John Paul II Jaguars are proving they’re the team to beat in senior girls basketball.
The Jaguars are now 5-0 on the season after picking up a 60-42 win over St. Joseph’s.
Fifth-year guard Chuot Angou led the way on defense, forcing multiple turnovers. According to head coach Pete Lambert, that defense has been a key part of the Jaguars’ success.
“We’ve had injuries along the way, but we’re not using that as an excuse,” Lambert says. “We’re having everyone else step up and holding them accountable on defense.”
The Jaguars have outscored their opponents 282-152 in their five games so far. Angou credits the results to the team’s chemistry.
“There are a lot of younger players, so the experience isn’t really there, but having older players and people who actually know what they’re doing helps [the team],” Angou says.
For a team that has started as the Jaguars have, the expectations are clear.
Angou says the goal is to make it to OFSAA.
