A 19-year-old man is facing a slew of charges following a fight on Fleming Drive early this morning.
It happened around 12:15 a.m. Sunday morning in the area of Fleming Drive and Farnsborough Crescent, where a large crowd had gathered.
Police say a fight broke out between two men and as police attempted to break it up , one of the males allegedly punched an officer in the back of the head.
During the scuffle, it’s alleged the man reached over to grab the officer’s firearm, attempting to remove it from the holster.
Police say the man resisted arrest but was eventually handcuffed.
The officer suffered minor injuries.
As a result, police have charged 19-year-old John Mitchell of Fort Erie with cause disturbance by fighting, assault a peace officer, disarming a peace officer and resist arrest.
