Black Friday and Cyber Monday have officially kicked off the holiday shopping season, and today is the opening of the giving season, as it’s Giving Tuesday.
Giving Tuesday is a day dedicated to giving back around the globe, Canada and in the community.
Executive Director for Pillar Non Profit Network, Michelle Baldwin says the day is a great kick start to the season set to give. Baldwin says quite often we think of giving gifts; however it’s about giving donations and helping those in need as well.
She tells the X there are multiple nonprofit organizations and charities that have a huge impact on our community.
Baldwin says most organizations’ websites have information regarding giving back and/or donating, she adds it can be done very easily.
Baldwin advises anyone who is interested in donating this Giving Tuesday, or any day throughout the year to check out CanadaHelps.org.
She says through this website is a list of all registered Canadian charities and the option to donate directly to them.
Baldwin adds you’ll also receive a tax receipt through this website for all donations made.
“GivingTuesday is a time to celebrate and encourage activities that support charities and non profits, whether it’s making a donation, volunteering time, helping a neighbour or spreading the word, GivingTuesday is a movement for everyone who wants to give something back.”
