As the snow continues to fall upon London, keeping sidewalks and roads safe is a priority for the city. However, with the abundance of snow we have received in the past weeks, some sidewalks have become slippery hazards.
“The sidewalk clearing usually takes place after we plow the roads, we try to make sure that any snow from the road is deposited on the sidewalk before we clear them” says John Parsons, the Division Manager of Transportation and Roadside Operation for the city of London.
Parsons says it is the city’s responsibility to clear the sidewalks, unlike other municipalities that ask residents to clear their own , but insists that any citizen help is much appreciated.
The winter maintenance team has access to 33 sidewalk plows this year. More details about winter maintenance can be found through the city’s website.
