London Police have arrested a man in connection with an evening home invasion in London.
Police issued an arrest warrant for 43-year-old Paul Wayne O’Connell of Newbury, ON. He was wanted for break and enter to commit robbery and robbery.
London Police located and arrested Paul Wayne O’Connell at an East London residence early Friday evening. O’Connell was taken into custody without incident.
O’Connell stands charged with one count of robbery and one count of break and enter.
The home invasion happened just before 9 p.m. Tuesday when a man knocked on the door of a Trafalgar St. home. When the resident answered the door, police say he forced his way in assaulting the resident and stealing the man’s medication.
The victim suffered minor injuries and did not need medical attention.
O’Connell and the victim do know each other.
London Police Constable Ken Steeves confirms to XFM News O’Connell has been arrested in the past.
XFM News has learned O’Connell was arrested following a high-profile police chase in London, ON in August 2009 which saw 19 bullets being shot by police. O’Connell was not hit by any of the bullets, but in 2010 O’Connell was sentenced to a 4-year prison term after the crime spree.
Police say it’s important to never approach a dangerous person, instead call 911 right away.
