A job fair to help the displaced Target workers within the London community is taking place tonight. The focus is on Customer Service and Retail-based sectors in the local community.
It will be hosted by Goodwill in partnership with the Employment Sector Council London Middlesex (ESCLM) and Jeppii.com.
It is expected that a total of 500 job seekers will be attending the event, with 12 employers participating. The night features 4 rotating workshops and information sessions, delivered by service providers and Goodwill career services staff.
The first hour will be for Target employees, with the event opening to the general public at 4:00pm.
“We were greatly touched by the stories we were hearing from Target employees, wondering what they were going to do next.” says Andrew McMurray, Supervisor of Goodwill’s Employment Solutions.
“Learning about the large number of people and families that were impacted by the store closures, we were compelled to reach out to help this specific group.”
The event is meant to highlight what community employment resources are available, as well as help participants make connections with local employers.
