The Ontario Government seems to be holding strong to the sale of hydro one. The liberal government has scrapped a proposed NPD act that would require a referendum to be held in order to sell the public asset. The bill was similar to a piece of Legislation in Manitoba.
“There is no oversight when [Hydro one] is a private corporation” says Teresa Armstrong, MP for London-Fanshawe.
Armstrong adds that the provincial NPD will fight the sale at all costs;. “People do not want their public assets sold of. you know its going to mean more when we buy electricity from a private company who owns it. they are responsible to their shareholder, not to the public interest”
The Sale is expect to sell of 60 of the company to private corporations
