A man is now in the hands of the police after a Canada Day getaway in a stolen vehicle.
It all began on Tuesday when a vehicle was stolen from a residence in the area of Adelaide Street North and Fanshawe Park Road East in London.
Then on Wednesday around 2:00 a.m., members of Windsor Police spotted the stolen motor vehicle in Windsor but lost sight of it.
Later that day at 7:00 a.m., the stolen motor vehicle was involved in theft of gas in the area of Wellington Road and Exeter Road back in London.
Then just before 8:00 a.m., London Police spotted the stolen motor vehicle in the area of North Centre Road and Sunningdale Drive. The Officer attempted to stop the motor vehicle but the driver refused. A brief pursuit ensued but was terminated.
Minutes later, the stolen motor vehicle was spotted in a parking lot at Richmond Street and Fanshawe Park Road East where the lone driver was taken into custody without incident.
As a result, 23 year old Garrett Donaldson of Windsor has been charged with:
- Fail to Stop for Police contrary to Section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada,
- Theft Under $5000 contrary to Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada and
- Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to Section 354(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Police say he is being held in custody.
