Draw the Line is an awareness campaign funded by the Ontario Government and brought to Ontario colleges and universities by the Ontario Coalition of Rape Crisis Centres. This campaign is one of the many awareness initiatives that Leah Marshall, Sexual Violence Prevention (SVP) Advisor will be running at Fanshawe College this year.
Canadian studies have shown that that only 6 of every 100 incidents of sexual assault are reported to the police. Draw the Line campaigns endeavor to educate Ontario on how to spot sexual violence, empower them to make a difference, and help create safer communities.
In the spirit of this effort, Marshall will be running awareness campaigns throughout the school year to encourage dialogue about sexual violence, and change the culture that condones and supports sexual violence.
Students have already begun participated in the campaign by responding to situations pertaining to sexual violence with advice and encouragement.
If you would like to take part in this campaign or future campaigns, you can visit Marshall’s booth in Forewall Hall on September 23rd from 10PM-2PM.
