The Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation is one of the many organizations across North America that are participating in the Pink Glove Dance Competition. The foundation submitted the video with the hopes of winning money they can put toward fighting breast cancer.
In 2009 Medline released their pink medical gloves with hopes that they would facilitate conversations between health care professionals and patients about breast cancer. Following the success of the gloves, Medline released a video with over 200 hospital patrons dancing in the pink gloves–The company then turned the video into the Pink Glove Dance Competition that organizations all across the nation participate in annually.
Emily Somers, the organizer of the Pink Glove Dance, said the best thing to come out of the campaign is the supportive community that its fostered and says the dancing is what makes the breast cancer campaign unique.
Voting is open until September 23rd, and the public is encouraged to visit pinkglovedance.com and support the organizations participating.
