Tinder is an online dating app that is available to people through the one thing they always have on them, their smartphone.
The popular dating app was first launched back in 2011, gaining over 24 million users since. In 2013, Tinder decided to market to the college crowd, eventually gaining over half a million users in the college demographic.
Since half a million users are a part of the college demographic, this must mean that there are college students out there who are not so thrilled by the idea of an online romance.
A Fanshawe College student, Jordan Piper, says that it is sad that people are not meeting the old fashioned way anymore, and that the connection with another person is based off a photo. “I don’t think you should use an app to find somebody else, I think you should be able to go out into the world and find somebody that way.”
Tinder is available to all smartphones for free through the app store.
