The London Knights dominated against the North Bay Battalions with a 4-to-3 win in overtime. This win marks the team’s fifth straight regulation win this season.
Forward Max Jones shot the winning goal and also captured his first hat trick. In team tradition he wore a silver and green sombrero to celebrate (pictured left; XFM Sports original photo).
Christian Dvorak got around Battalion goalie Jake Smith to score the second goal for the Knights, and forward J.J. Piccinich assisted with the first to help secure the Knight’s overtime win.
Forward Max Jones says that scoring the hat trick relieves some pressure and will help him improve as a player.
“You know obviously I’m not having to think about getting the first goal, the first point. Everything is just coming to me, right? I am going to let it keep coming, keep rolling. I don’t want to think about anything too much, but the players I’m playing with they’re really good out there. So I am just going to feed of them.”
The two teams were fairly evenly matched in the first period. Each team taking 7 shots on net, and by the end of the third period the Knights had taken 35 shots to the Battalion’s 21.
The Knights head to Windsor tonight to face the Windsor Spitfires, and will return for their next home game on October 30th.
