The ChristKindl Market is one of London’s most popular markets and is back for its fourth year.
The market was first started back in 2011 and was aimed at bringing the London community together to celebrate the German culture. It consists of vendors for shoppers, delicious german cuisine, and christmas carols. They also have their own spot in the London Christmas parade, and hold a small parade for their own as well.
One of the vendors in particular stood out, a gentleman who is selling a “tell all” book about World War 2. Douglas Gagelle is the son of a World War 2 soldier, and tells the story through his fathers letters that were sent to him in the war. He sells his novel every year at the ChristKindl Market, and the sales are often high. “I want to get my fathers story out there, and this is the perfect place to do so”, says Gagelle.
There are also other vendors that cator to specific german culture, such as the Gushiem Venodor. Gushiem is a famous german drinks that consists of spices and heated up red wine. Other vendors consist of handcrafted jewelry and clothing.
The ChristKindl Market is held every weekend until December 16th at the German Canadian Club. For more information, you can go to www.germancanadianclub.com.
