Canadians are being offered more options when it comes to cable and satellite services.
The CRTC announced the new regulations after a hearing last year. It says that all Canadians will have access to either pick-and-pay or small television packages as of March 1st and have access to both options by December 1st, 2016.
The new basic packages must include local channels in each service area, as well as channels currently on the CRTC’s mandatory distribution list.
The changes will also include a 25-dollar cap on basic television service.
