Justin Bieber held a small and intimate concert at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto Monday night, with all proceeds going towards a charity close to his heart.
The Stratford House of Blessing is a local out-reach centre that offers the basic necessities of life to those in need. It is also the charity that helped Bieber and his mother, Pattie Mallette, when he was just a child.
Theresa McMurray, who is the Executive Director at the House of Blessing, says that Universal Music contacted them last Tuesday informing them of Bieber’s plans.
This isn’t the first time Bieber has given to the House of Blessing. In 2011, he donated $10,000 and signed childhood items.
“It’s definitely bringing to light the social issues in our community and it’s always a good thing if people can see what’s happening and to realize how much their neighbours do need them,” says McMurray.
“Of course we want to thank Justin for everything he has done here at House of Blessing, it helps us continue to do what we do here,” she continues.
McMurray says that it is important to remember that there is a lot of people that are hungry and struggling in the community. All it takes is to ask someone how they are doing and really mean it.
It is still unsure of how much money was raised from the concert, but McMurray says that she is thankful for every dollar that does come in.
