Skiers and snowboarders patiently awaited the opening of Boler Mountain, as Mother Nature caused an 8 week delay in the mountain’s opening.
The mountain opened Wednesday for business, and currently has 8 or 9 runs open. Outdoor Operations Manager Shaun Bonnallie says they expect to open more runs this weekend.
He admits that it was a rough start to the season compared to previous years, “we were way off from our numbers from the previous 2 years but we had a really good 2 years in a row with lots of snow.
Despite the slow start, Bonnallie says they were still ahead of the game, “This year’s a little unfortunate, but we have a really good making system, state of the art, and it allowed us to be the first Southwestern resort open.”
He adds that even with a milder than usual winter, they’re expecting it to be a good season, “we’re holding out good faith that the winter is still going to be fine. We have the technology to keep making our own snow, as long as we get the right temperatures. And it’s nice that Mother Nature has helped us out a bit.”
The mountain is expected to stay open this weekend, despite rainy forecasts.
