The 40th annual Canadian Country Music Awards were held at Budweiser Gardens last night. The John Deere Green Carpet was filled with Canada’s brightest stars in the music industry. Artists such as Leah Daniels and Brett Kissel couldn’t believe the energy from all of the fans in London. Brett Kissel said, “to be honest, they could the best in Canada”.
Jessi Cruickshank kept the crowd laughing all night long with her witty country jokes. Chad Brownlee and Jessi welcomed everyone to the CCMAs with a steamy kiss on the “Kiss Cam”. Dean Brody, one of Canada’s greatest country artists, was very appreciative of his many nominations when I spoke with him on the green carpet, “I remember as a kid coming to the CCMA awards, so to be nominated as many times as we have, it means something”.
Dean took home four CCMA awards including:
- Single of the Year
- Songwriter of the Year
- CMT Video of the Year
- Top Canadian Selling Single of the Year
It was a big night for Jessi Moskaluke who won Female Artist of the Year, alongside Brett Kissel, who won Male Artist of the Year.
Jessi Cruickshank closed the show with Chad Brownlee’s assistance of course. The host said goodbye to the audience as Chad held up a fan to her hair.
Like Ms. Cruickshank said, “What happens in London, stays in London”.
