This week Western University is celebrating its commitment to supporting farmers with Fair Trade Week.Fair Trade is a system of buying that ensures farmers, artisans, and producers get a fair price for what they produce.
Whether it be bananas, chocolate, or coffee, Western’s Fair Trade certified campus believes in standing up for livable wages. Vice President of Fair Trade Western Jonathan Adams says buying fair trade can stop the cycle of poverty in farming communities.
Adams says booths will be set up with free samples of fair trade products in the University Community Centre to raise awareness about supporting for the rights of the makers of our food.
Western University is a proudly certified Fair Trade campus.
