To serve and protect this is the job of our Police force, made to protect people and property the jobs of a Police officer vary form patrolling areas, responding to calls and making arrest just to name a few.
Even though being an officer of the law is a duty, it’s still a job, which for most officers ends up being a full career up until retirement. This along with the number of people trying to get into policing made law enforcement a competitive job market.
A “Job Market” is basically the demand for jobs in a certain field, it can change depending on a number of influences. This leads to certain career fields having more jobs available at times while other might not have many jobs open.
This made jobs in policing very hard to come by for a number of years, but are we starting to see more jobs coming available?
Talking to Nic Westlake a Police Foundations student at Fanshawe College he seemed very hopefully for jobs in the future, and he mentions to us why, “There are many jobs opening up in the future within the next five years because baby boomers are now retiring.”
Even though things are looking good for the future of policing jobs for students Nic still seemed determined to get as much volunteer and work experience as possible to get a leg up on the competition when it comes to getting a job as a law enforcement officer.
It’s starting to look brighter jobs in law enforcement as baby boomers retire it paves the way for the next generation of Police officers to come serve and protect the public.
