The Fanshawe Women’s Volleyball team has started 2017 off with a hot streak, going 3-0 since the New Year pushing their OCAA win streak to 4.
Fanshawe is coming off a 3-0 win from Saturday’s home game against the Conestoga Condors winning the match (25-13), (28-26), (25-15). The Falcon squad is looking to push their streak to 5 this Thursday when they host the Sheridan Bruins.
The Sheridan Bruins are currently (6-7) coming off a win against Boreal putting them just points behind the 7-5 Falcons.
These two team met up once earlier this season back in October, which the Bruins came out on top.
Since the New Year Fanshawe has made some significant changes to their team that might pull a different result in this Thursday’s matchup.
“We made some changes just before Christmas,” said Falcons Head Coach Sean Pellow, “ Team cohesion-wise, and the culture of our program and at Christmas time added one player to the mix that brings experience and some high performance that allows us to compete at a higher level.”
Former University of Guelph left-side Meghan Morelli has joined the Falcon squad giving them championship experience and some high numbers too, putting up 15 kills against Mohawk and Conestoga.
Nearing the end of the season the Falcons have some tough matchups ahead of them, with schools like Niagara and Humber in the near future.
“Our focus doesn’t change,” said Pellow “ It’s day in and day out it’s what we need to do better and what we need to do to make playoffs.”
