London Native, Ryan Gosling, was nominated for the 89th Annual Academy Awards today in Beverly Hills.
Gosling has received the nomination for his performance in LaLaLand– a musical film that fans are raving about. Gosling is nominated for Best Actor alongside his co-star, Emma Stone, who is nominated for Best Actress.
Late night talk-show host, Jimmy Kimmel, will be hosting the Oscar ceremony on February 26th, a first for Kimmel who has never hosted a large awards show of its kind.
This year’s nominees include many more faces of colour. Last year, the Oscar ceremony created a lot of controversy with the lack of diversity. The Best Supporting Actress category alone has three women of colour, which is a change from last year’s trending #OscarsSoWhite.
London’s very own, Gosling, has some competition for his Best Actor nomination:
