The Lightning won their 5th in a row last night 110-90 when they returned home to face the Niagara Riverlions.
It was a complete team effort, with all ten Lightning players getting on the score sheet.
The Lightning quickly took control of the game on both sides of the court.
Niagara gave up 12 steals and combined for 21 turnovers.
Julian Boyd led the way for the Bolts on the offensive end with 32 points. He has 16 points in the first quarter.
The game was also a homecoming for Marvin Phillips, the Lightning’s all time leading scorer. He contributed 19 points off the bench.
Boyd talks about what it means for the team to have such deep talent.
“It’s so amazing,” When you have guys like that on the floor and then get Marvin Phillips now. It’s just down low, I feel like who can stop us. It was hard to stop us before with me and Royce, adding Marvin (Phillips) and then Tony (Criswell) coming off the bench. We just got too much depth. When I’ve been in foul trouble, Royce’s been in foul trouble, you don’t miss a beat because of the guys’ we got behind us doing the same thing.”
Along with his stellar offensive performance, Boyd scooped up 13 rebounds.
The Lightning improve to 9-3 on the season and continue their dominance of the central division. They remain a full 5 games ahead of the second place Orangeville Miracles.
After easily dispatching the River Lions, the Lightning will have to do it all again in less than 24 hours.
They travel to Niagara on Sunday in a rematch against the struggling 4-6 team from St. Catharines.
Tip off is scheduled for 2 PM at the Meridian Centre.
