LCBO announced it raised $293,297 for the London Children’s Hospital as part of their Giving Back campaign.
The alcohol company chose Ontario’s four regional children hospitals as the focus of this year’s fundraiser. Over the holiday season LCBO staff asked customers to make a donation to the hospitals on top of the their purchase.
The campaign raised a total of $5.6 million dollars, and $293, 397 of that money will be donated to the London Children’s Hospital.
The proceeds will go towards providing state of the art equipment for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The hospital will now be able to purchase specialized equipment, such as a transport incubator and a Giraffe OmniBed, which will help premature infants better adjust to their new environment.
The funds will also benefit the Impaired Minds Produce Actions Causing Trauma (!MPACT) Program, which develops presentations and resources for high school students about the harms of alcohol consumption, including impaired driving and binge drinking.
“Together, we are making an impact in the areas of alcohol-related education, harm reduction and research for babies, children and youth across Ontario,” says LCBO President and CEO George Soleas.
The London Children Hospital’s Chief Development Officer Sherri Bocchini understands as a mother herself, the special bond between a mother and her child. She is warmed knowing the new equipment purchased will provide a sense of ease to parents knowing their child is even more protected.
