The Western Mustangs will renew their rivalry with the Queen’s Gales Saturday, Sept. 23. This game also takes place on Blackout Night, where the Mustang fans are encouraged to wear all black. There will be some fireworks and a few surprises for after the game as well.
Western currently stands on top of the OUA Standings with a 4 and 0 record and they share the top spot with the Waterloo Warriors. So far the Mustangs have an impressive 193 points for and have suffered only 58 points in their impressive and dominating start. If last week’s showing is anything to go off of with beating the Windsor Lancers 57 to 7 and only allowing 84 yards total on offence, you can expect their defense to be ready to perform once again tonight.
The Mustangs offence has also been impressive this year they lead the nation is some offensive stats like rushing yards, passing yards and yards per game showing that off last week with a total of 697 yards on offence in that big win over Windsor.
On the Queen’s Gales side they average 15.7 points and 369.7 yards per game putting them in the lower half of the U Sports standings in both categories. As for defense the Gales sit in the middle of the pack in most standings allowing an average of 25.3 points and 428.3 yards per game.
These two teams met around this time last year and the score was 27 to 13 in favor of the Mustangs. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
