“Diet is everything. Honestly, you wont see the results you’re looking for unless you follow through with a proper diet plan. If you don’t get enough protein you’re not gonna grow. You function more efficiently when you’re on a proper diet” was Daniel’s response when asked why nutrition is so important to her.
Daniel is working towards getting bigger especially since it is “bulking” season for her. That means plenty of extra calories, carbs and protein to fuel her workouts at Flex Plex and aid in recovery and muscle growth as well. Before her next show in November, Daniel will go through a “cutting” phase that consists of fewer carbs, lots of protein and cardio work to trim away any fat and be ready for the stage.
Doug Stacey works closely with the London Knights’ players. Training OHL hockey players to become professionals means teaching them to eat properly so they can achieve the desired results on the ice. But working with the youngsters also has its challenges as Stacey explains “we do as much education as possible and we try to make sure we provide them with nutritional food. But you have to remember that they’re teenage boys and sometimes they just wanna hit McDonalds.”
A 68 game schedule, plenty of practices and off-ice workouts offer the players more than enough opportunity to work off any cheat meals. Nutrition is the key to peak performance, but everything in moderation of course.
