Reports say approximately 1.5 million uncertified USB chargers have been recalled by Health Canada under the initiative named “planned national sampling and compliance project.”
Uncertified charging cables can cause life-threatening risks like electric shocks and can even generate fire. People are advised to invest in certified electronic chargers for safety measures.

Stop using uncertified USB cables immediately
- Avoid buying chargers available at gas stations, dollar stores or mini marts
- Look for certfication mark on the packaging as well as the product itself
