On October 22nd the city of London and the rest of Canada will be having an election at the municipal level. This year voter turnout is drawing concerns for most experts. A recent survey says that 1/3 Londoners do not know about the election.
Some residents are fed up with the way municipal politics is headed and are choosing to stay away from the polls. George who is a local resident says that the reason voting is down is because people do not care about politics anymore “It doesn’t matter who it is 1 person is making all of the decisions”. He also states that he thinks it time for the Prime Minister to step in and handle the election.
Tanya Park a candidate for the mayoral race says that young people should especially come out and vote in this election. “London is a real opportunity for students to work and grow in and to do that we need to make sure that they know there is power behind their vote”. She also states that her campaign is targeting Fanshawe and Western students the most.
Election date is October 22nd.
