Students from all over the world attend school in many different countries. Fanshawe College in London Ontario offers students from 90 countries the opportunity to attend school in Canada. The main focus is to give students from foreign countries the chance to study Abroad.
Sue Mckittrick, communications and recruitment coordinator at Fanshawe says that the college sends recruiters to many countries trying to bring hopefuls to London “We have people competing for seats all around the world, thousands and thousands of applications and there are international experts knowing what they want to see in students” Mckittrick also says that the reason why international students pay more than domestic students for tuition is because the money that domestic students pay is subsidize by the Canadian government because of taxes.
One of the major adjustments that international students have to make when coming to Canada is adjusting to the Canadian winters which is not easy to do. shreyas an international student from India says he has only been in Canada for 2 weeks and is trying to adjust to the different culture ” I feel that Canada as a whole, people are very friendly, kind and loving. Even if I am in trouble or have some doubt whoever I talk to is very approachable.” He also says the hardest part was to leave his family back home in India.
Fanshawe College has up to as many as 5,000 international students per year.
